spiraling in clockwise from top:
- tom’s of maine toothpaste
- radius source toothbrush
- cetaphil daily facial moisturizer w spf 15 (the last thing i put on my face)
- everyone lotion in lavender + aloe
- now solutions shea butter (originally i used for my pregnant tummy and now i use it whenever and wherever i’m feeling particularly dry and itchy)
- thayer’s alcohol-free rose petal witch hazel toner (i use this right after i get out of the shower)
- fig+yarrow facial serum (a denver company. this particular item is a gift from god for reals. used after toner.)
- clinique all about eyes
- thai crystal deodorant spray (weird, i know. but it works so well)
after the shower routine and before the hair and make-up routine, it’s the base layer routine. ya gotta prep that skin! this is my current arsenal for making sure my skin is fully moisturized and protected (the dryness and sun in colorado are brutal) and i’m pretty satisfied with the results.
however, i’m open to new ideas for a great overall body lotion and also i’m taking suggestions for face moisturizers with a higher spf. what do you use? have any insights into what works best for you?
*p.s. items not to scale. duh.
dear ramona,
nona says that your belly in this profile photo looks just like mine did when i was your age. also, the mussy, fine hair that gets a little matted and just seems to always stick out in the back. i had that too. and, again, with your love of shoes and accessories. when you were born you looked exactly like your papa (it was utterly endearing and completely freaky). and now, more and more, i see myself in you and it makes me very happy.
i love you. love, mama.
a portrait of ramona, once a week, every week, in 2013. inspired by jodi’s project.
happy weekend! i’m working at the populist this weekend and then we have a superbowl sunday party at our friends’ house (we plan on queso and, seriously, a KFC game day bucket or two [must be all those ads on hulu that have convinced me this is a good idea]). i’m looking forward to an impromptu denver blogger meetup next week with the lovely ladies of the following blogs: the reverie blog, you are my fave, and then we saved, the petrichor, and the proper pinwheel. my guess is we’ll have too much fun.
elsewhere on the interweb:
- i love this cute new tumblr of fashionable babies.
- here’s a good source to make YOUR baby more fashionable.
- a cute valentine’s day idea: make someone happy letter via oh joy!
- i’d like to write more down on paper and not just on this blog. here’s a good source for journals.
- my brother always sends me the best articles: can everyone be smart at everything?
- and my friend, ashley, often runs these sorts of articles by me: train a parent, spare a child.

i found three original vintage BFK butterfly chair frames at the end of a driveway in denver one summer afternoon. i knocked on the door and asked the old man if i could take them off his hands. he was so relieved and said: “of course, please.” jackpot.
they’ve lived on our outdoor patio for the past two years and we finally brought two of them inside when we had to replace our old living room chairs. ramona loves them and calls them “ham-mees,” or hammock chairs.
the black canvas cover is from circa50 and the paint splashed one is from urban outfitters. i’d love to get a cowhide or leather one to class our space up a bit. click on this link and scroll down to the third section and please tell me what cover you think would look best in our living room.
