i try to keep my smartphone uncluttered as i can find enough excuses to waste my time on it as it is. shown here are the apps i use the most, both for me and for ramona:
1. endless alphabet a great learning game that uses cute monsters to teach ramona how to identify letters. i certainly see how she’s absorbed it when she points out letters in our-day-to-day happenings || 2. heytell i’m more of a texter than a phone caller. but texting is not a good idea in a lot of situations. heytell allows you to voice text people. it’s a combination siri and skype and it’s great for sending quick messages when texting isn’t available || 3. dots: a game about connecting mamas need games too! try this game once and you’ll be hooked. hint: try and connect four in a sqaure || 4. simple grocery list i have lists on the fridge, in two notebooks, and in my agenda. all of which i forget whenever i head to the store. this app helps me consolidate and organize my shopping lists. and i never forget to leave home w/o my phone! || 5. instagram who doesn’t have this?! it’s my favorite way to socially network, by far. if you insta too: follow me at adenverhomecompanion || 6. pbs kids video sometimes i just need ramona to veg out and give me some time. this app streams a large variety of pbs kids shows.
what apps do you love having on your phone?

yesterday the lovely kathryn bacalis came over to snap some shots of our little space in lohi for an apartment therapy home tour. this arrangement was the kick-in-the-butt we needed to get our home in tip-top shape (painting the dingy kitchen, getting rid of our boob fans [seriously, they looked like big boobs], cleaning areas that i have been remiss in cleaning… for three years). i’m really pleased w how everything turned out. and i’m extremely pleased w kathryn who was an absolute delight to work with! i cannot wait to see the rest of the images when it comes out on apartment therapy.
congratulations to commenter nicole of hey! party collective! nicole: make sure to get in touch w me w/in one week to claim your prize.
i found three original vintage BFK butterfly chair frames at the end of a driveway in denver one summer afternoon. i knocked on the door and asked the old man if i could take them off his hands. he was so relieved and said: “of course, please.” jackpot.

they’ve lived on our outdoor patio for the past two years and we finally brought two of them inside when we had to replace our old living room chairs. ramona loves them and calls them “ham-mees,” or hammock chairs.
the black canvas cover is from circa50 and the paint splashed one is from urban outfitters. i’d love to get a cowhide or leather one to class our space up a bit. click on this link and scroll down to the third section and please tell me what cover you think would look best in our living room.

you may know by now that the only way my home stays clean is by sticking to a daily 20-minute cleaning schedule i ripped off of apartment therapy. i’ve relied on this schedule (which i hang up on my fridge) for three years now. every december i search the web for a good-looking printable monthly calendar set. this year i teamed up with one of my favorite bloggers and IRL gal pal, amanda from the petrichor, to create our own calendar that YOU can download too!
it’s a clean, modern, simple monthly calendar. and did i mention it’s downloadable and printable and free?!
what would you use monthly calendars for?
also, congratulations to jenny who won my eBags giveaway! are you all following my guest board for eBags on pinterest? you should. i’m having lots of fun doing it.
