speaking of hair, a couple of weeks ago, while ramona was going to town on a PB&J sandwich, i noticed her bangs were invading her eyes. they gathered at a point in the middle of her face and no amount of side-sweeping was going to keep them away. i had said i wasn’t going to cut her funny little hair until i knew what its intention was (she has long layers and short layers and thick spots and some spots that seem so thin — it’s growing path hadn’t made up its mind). but these bangs were just killing me! so i grabbed my trusty (rusty) pair of ikea scissors and decided to see if she would let me snip. the girl didn’t even bat an eye and a minute later she had cute, albeit thin and wispy, straight bangs. not only were the bangs out of her eyes but she also appeared a bit more like a little girl. mission accomplished.
when did your child get their first haircut or bang trim? did you do it yourself or take them into a stylist/barber? how did you feel about it?

- currently reading: a non-fiction on the false economy of “fast fashion”. this is something that jp and i have been focusing on the past year –not buying cheap, crappy clothes and only buying what we need. trying our darndest to buy made in america and certainly buying well-constructed garments that will last for a long time with timeless style that will most always have a spot in our closet.

(i’ll do a more detailed post later as we get into this more).
