A Denver Home Companion | 2013 downloadable monthly calendar

you may know by now that the only way my home stays clean is by sticking to a daily 20-minute cleaning schedule i ripped off of apartment therapy. i’ve relied on this schedule (which i hang up on my fridge) for three years now. every december i search the web for a good-looking printable monthly calendar set. this year i teamed up with one of my favorite bloggers and IRL gal pal, amanda from the petrichor, to create our own calendar that YOU can download too!

it’s a clean, modern, simple monthly calendar. and did i mention it’s downloadable and printable and free?!

2013 monthly calendar

what would you use monthly calendars for?

also, congratulations to jenny who won my eBags giveaway! are you all following my guest board for eBags on pinterest? you should. i’m having lots of fun doing it.

i am no no no good at keeping my whites white. this was made even harder when ramona came around. she is active and into everything. so there are stains on the knees of her pants and on the belly of her onesies. and now that’s she eats what we eat? forget about it. food is everywhere.

i recently discovered iDye at my local art supply store. it’s a dye that is done in the washing machine. i’ve never dyed clothes before, RIT or otherwise, but this looked relatively easy and painless so i thought i’d give it a shot to hopefully extend the life of some cloth diapers and white onesies. besides their stains, they were in fine condition.

simply follow the instructions on the back of the package. make sure you have at least a cup of kosher salt on hand. voila. new clothes. they didn’t turn out perfect but i also didn’t pre-wet them AND i put the dye in after the clothes when the package clearly stated to put the dye in first. what can i say? i have a problem following rules.

you have to stay close to the washing machine to make sure it’s agitating the clothes for about an hour (for me this meant resetting to the wash cycle every 15 minutes). ramona and i took this opportunity to play in the basement stairwell where she could ham it up and have a moment with my barn clogs.

our first 10 days of advent have been quite nice. there’s been lots of hot cocoa and little sweet treats and crafts done in front of favorite movies and television shows. the weather continues to be dreamy and so there have been long, drawn-out dates with the animals and lazy days lounging around the house in pajamas. today i am off to buy mistletoe to hang as an excuse to smooch my lover (of course, i don’t really need one but it’s oh so fun) but first i’m catching up on emails and letters and little projects while ramona snoozes and my christmas candles make my space smell devine.

cheers to you and yours!

psst: there’s a giveaway going on! click here to see what you can enter to win.

dear readers, please let me introduce you to A Denver Home Companion’s new featured sponsor, eBags! my friend and neighbor, tran, works for eBags as their social media manager and she thought our two brands would be a good fit. i was not entirely familiar with the company at first but have since spent some time (way too much time!) clicking through their site (and drooling and swooning and coveting) and i’ve gotta say: they have great bags, enticing prices, and free shipping to boot! there’s really something for everyone from designer handbags to diaper bags to sunglasses to luggage.

i have some trips coming up so i made a wish list of items i’d like to have to be able to pack efficiently and travel in style, all found on eBags.

clockwise from top right: cosmetic case | packing cubes | durable multi-function bag | weekender bag | versatile tote

in honor of this sponsorship, eBags is offering readers of A Denver Home Companion the chance to win this beautiful piazza mercato tote in nutmeg and black from eBags’ private label, valued at $199.99. simply leave a comment below with what you would use this bag for.

i’ll announce the winner on monday, december 17th. as always, you can earn extra entries by tweeting, pinning, facebooking, or blogging this giveaway (please leave a separate comment for each instance w a link to where else you’ve shared it!). thanks tran and eBags!

Hi, there! I’m PJ from Bunny & Dolly. When Emily asked if I’d share a little something on her blog, I immediately had a topic in mind: fashion. Specifically, I wanted to write about toddler fashion inspired by Emily’s sweet daughter, Ramona. I’m kind of obsessed with Ramona’s free-spirited, playful style. I mean, did you see her Little Edie costume for Halloween?

I try my best to stylishly dress my 16-month-old son, Levi, but it’s not always easy. I avoid licensed cartoons, oversize logos, and cutesy slogans as much as possible, so Levi ends up wearing a lot of stripes! There are definitely more fashion-forward and fun clothing options for little girls, and—bonus!—they aren’t stuck wearing pants every day. Even in the winter, little girls can frolic in a skirt or dress by pulling on a warm pair of leggings underneath. Boys, on the other hand, can choose from jeans, corduroys or khakis. Boring!

Here’s how I’d dress a toddler girl with as much spunk and flair as Ramona:

Clockwise: Old Navy Fleece Hoodie Dress, Cherokee Ruffle Front Cardigan, GAP Velvet Band Jacket, Gap Sequin Tulle Bubble Skirt, Winter Water Factory Rocking Horse Dress, Nordic Blooms Layer Dress, United Colors of Benetton Kids Knit Dress

what great outfits, PJ! no wonder levi always looks so handsome 😉 thank you so much for making a style board for miss bean and for guest posting on my little blog today. i loved having you!
