speaking of breastfeeding and baby-led weaning, leigh over at marvelous kiddo posted the following piece of art this morning and i had to pass it on:
antonio saura, who’s a new artist to me, and his unique depiction of breastfeeding in his work, maternidad.

check out this section at marvelous kiddo for more artists’ renditions on breastfeeding. leigh posts at least one every week and i love the series. none has caught my eye quite like this one, though.
we introduced ramona to turkey. jp braised the ground turkey on the stove top until it was soft and easy enough to blend up, which is what i did to it once it had cooled.
oh my, ramona was so excited to try this new food. until…
my friend, after i told her how ramona was not a fan of the chalky substance, advised we add olive oil to the turkey in the cooking process. noted.
since ramona’s caloric intake is still exclusively from breastfeeding, there’s less of a rush to get her onto solids. jp and i have decided we don’t want to torture her with gross foods that even we wouldn’t eat and proceed more in the direction of baby led weaning. this is where we offer her the foods that we eat and let her come into her own interest in food on her own timing.
wish us luck. or give advice. i have no idea what this will look like or or how it will work.
