twas a full week. i love birthday weeks. but i need a really long nap. also, if anyone knows a better way to insert and format instagram photos into wordpress i’d love to hear from you. should i be using a third party app? (psst: click through to see that i didn’t completely screw up the formatting. also, click the images for larger, less distorted versions).
elsewhere:
- i’d like to make a fort like this for ramona in the backyard.
- i’m coveting beautiful and way out of my price range white tops. also this. and this.
- pj pinned this idea for a washi tape use and now i need to step up my organizing game!
- consumer reports posts an article on what to reject when you’re expecting. bravo, consumer reports. it is my hope that expectant women are aware of and given all their options.
- jp’s restaurant planning/demo-ing/constructing/styling is in full throes. i like these lights for over the tables. but maybe that’s been overdone? suggestions?
- drea over at maiden metallurgist always has thoughtful views. i like her response to time’s most recent cover.

ramona and i are off to portland and roseburg, oregon this weekend! we’re going to visit my father’s side of the family who hasn’t had a chance to meet minka yet. no grand plans except for quality driver family time, mostly in roseburg. i’m hoping to stop by coava coffee, voodoo doughnuts, and the pendleton woolen mills store during my short time in portland. we might even drive through ramona’sneighborhoods!
what would you recommend i do while in portland? (i’ll be there monday so there’s time to take suggestions.)
oh, and some videos for you.
i haven’t said much about it yet but here’s the awesome news that the powerdriver family is now working on!

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
