we introduced ramona to turkey. jp braised the ground turkey on the stove top until it was soft and easy enough to blend up, which is what i did to it once it had cooled.

oh my, ramona was so excited to try this new food. until…

my friend, after i told her how ramona was not a fan of the chalky substance, advised we add olive oil to the turkey in the cooking process. noted.

since ramona’s caloric intake  is still exclusively from breastfeeding, there’s less of a rush to get her onto solids. jp and i have decided we don’t want to torture her with gross foods that even we wouldn’t eat and proceed more in the direction of baby led weaning. this is where we offer her the foods that we eat and let her come into her own interest in food on her own timing.

wish us luck. or give advice. i have no idea what this will look like or or how it will work.

  1. I’m totally stalking your blog this morning. LOVE BLW. It requires a willingness to let go of control, which is a huge struggle for me, but the principles just seem right. I do try to introduce new foods individually to check for allergic reactions, and I cut and prepare foods to make them more baby-friendly than true BLW proponents would probably suggest or require…but skipping the purees has been awesome for us.

Her face is so adorable! We did some purees, but we mostly just let Micah taste our foods. This was uper handy while he was learning. http://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-Pack-Fresh-Feeder-Colors/dp/B000GK5XY2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329933228&sr=8-1

I always found that adding breastmilk to the foods helped them take it down easier. Flavored it just right and made it go down smooth! Love that little lady.
