A Denver Home Companion | little bug

yeah, it doesn’t look like a baby to us either. but there he or she is! little bug PowerDriver, due sometime around 3/21/14.

this explains my absence, my exhaustion, my overall disinterest and inability to engage in anything beyond sitting on my couch watching ramona play with blocks or, if she needs more attention than i can give her, watching her watch television. a lot of it. way more than is good for a two-year-old. power to the mothers that rear more than two offspring bc this first trimester has been a good reminder to jp and me of why two, at least when it comes to child-rearing, will most likely be our lucky number.

with ramona, we essentially talked one night about having a baby, tried one night to make a baby, and then 40 weeks later, had a baby. this little bugger took many more months’ effort. and it has been humbling to experience the emotions of anticipation and disappointment and impatience and fear and insecurity and the unknown. our bodies are incredible things; the way we work has me in awe. i do not take this privilege of carrying this sack of life inside of me lightly.

|| weekly belly posts to commence at next week at week 12. i’m huge already. ||

Congrats!! And hopefully you start feeling better soon. I’m in the ‘months of trying boat’ at the moment. Such a mind-eff!!

And Alice’s bday is March 22 so I’m pulling for that day for your bug to arrive. 🙂

This is such wonderful news, congratulations! We too are ‘trying’ at the moment, but after our last holiday with Lulu, we aren’t trying too hard. Kids are exhausting & as you said, pregnancy is tough. With Lulu I was in bed or resting for most of the first trimester, but how do you do that when you have an active toddler to run after? Sounds like you have had the right idea, lots of quiet play and tv. Congrats again & I hope you’re feeling better soon x

That is so exciting! Congratulations. Hang in there and don’t feel bad about all that tv, just think of it as relaxing/bonding time. I used to think I wouldn’t let Octave watch tv, but the girl is so busy that it is the only time she sits and cuddles. I have learned to like it for that reason, and lately we have been watching way too much of it ourselves, although we don’t have a good excuse like you:)

  11. Oh yay! Congrats to you.

  12. Congrats to you! I spotted this on Instagram the other day. Hoping the second trimester treats you better. (By the way, my husband and I are biased, but two is the magic number for our family – just perfect. And I couldn’t go through pregnancy again – not with two already!)
